This month, Elementa Interior Design celebrates a milestone – one year since we officially opened our studio doors in Dubai. As a boutique design firm specialising in premium residential and hospitality interiors, our first year has been filled with remarkable projects, invaluable lessons, and the privilege of collaborating with inspiring clients across the UAE and the GCC.

From vision to reality: Our greatest achievements

When we set out to establish Elementa, our purpose was simple: to bring clients’ visions of unique spaces to life – spaces that blend timeless aesthetics with everyday functionality. Reflecting on the past year, it’s difficult to choose a single project that defines us. We’ve been fortunate to design everything from private residences in Dubai Hills and the Palm Jumeirah to a beach lounge for Hilton in Qatar.

One highlight was a housing complex of 70 apartments developed with a renowned property company in Dubai. This large-scale project not only put us on the map but also transformed our perspective on community living and how thoughtful design can enhance daily life. Soon after, we were entrusted with designing the first beach lounge in Qatar – an exciting opportunity that expanded our regional footprint.

Moving into our new studio space in Dubai was another important milestone. Designed to feel open, calm, and a little residential, our office has become a creative sanctuary where our multidisciplinary team can collaborate and innovate freely.

What our projects have taught us

Each project we’ve taken on – whether a luxury villa, an apartment complex, or a hospitality venue – has shaped how we design and how we grow as a team.

One of our earliest large-scale projects, the 70-apartment housing complex, came with tight timelines that tested our resilience. Designing public areas such as an outdoor cinema, rooftop pool, and fitness spaces, all within three months, challenged us to streamline processes while never compromising on quality. These experiences taught us the importance of balancing efficiency with creativity, a skill especially vital in Dubai’s fast-moving market.

Standing out in a competitive industry

Dubai is home to some of the world’s most innovative interior design studios, and starting out as a boutique practice meant carving our own niche. From the outset, we decided that our approach wouldn’t be about presenting countless options just to impress. Instead, we focused on crafting fewer, carefully considered concepts rooted in functionality, elegance, and authenticity.

During one villa project, the client shared that competing teams were submitting up to eight new design proposals overnight. While we respect that approach, it wasn’t ours. We believed – and still believe – that design excellence is about thoughtfulness, not volume. This decision has defined our reputation and attracted clients who share our values.

How client expectations shaped our vision

The UAE is a region where design aspirations are naturally high, and clients expect their homes to reflect the life they’ve worked hard to build. From day one, we understood that working in Dubai meant embracing a standard of luxury that is unique to this part of the world.

Over the past year, our studio has evolved from taking on smaller residential projects to specialising in high-end villas and premium hospitality interiors. We’ve also expanded our network of trusted suppliers and brands to offer clients the finest materials and finishes. Today, we rarely design smaller apartments – instead focusing on large-scale residential and hospitality projects where our design philosophy can truly shine.

Looking ahead: What’s next for Elementa

The journey so far has been nothing short of rewarding, and the future looks equally exciting. Our vision is to keep elevating the quality of living spaces in the Middle East while exploring new territories.

We’re currently working on several standout projects, including hospitality venues in the UAE and Iraq, as well as luxury villas on the Palm and in Dubai Hills. In parallel, we’ve started initial discussions about developing our own product line – a natural extension of our passion for design excellence.
